Training for First Aiders

The first aid needs assessment should identify the types of illness and injury the first aider may have to deal with as the type of training first aiders will receive will depend upon the nature of the illnesses and injuries identified in the assessment.

The table below lists the various types of training and their contents.

The Health and Safety Executive strongly recommend that first aiders undertake an annual refresher course of at least 3 hours, to maintain their skill level.
